Tips for Parents:

  1. Brush for two minutes a day, twice a day

Children must brush their teeth twice a day. It’s important to form this habit and help motivate your child. A fun game or a reward chart is useful for encouraging your child.

  1. Avoid Sugar as much as possible!

It’s a good idea to make healthy snacks appetising. Avoid fizzy drinks, sugary juices and sweets at home and in lunchboxes.

  1. Increase dairy intake

Research has proven that full fat products such as whole milk and cheese are great for strengthening your child’s teeth.

  1. Brush Correctly

Make sure that you focus on the back teeth as well as brushing the front teeth. Use a soft toothbrush in circular motions. An egg timer is useful to keep children motivated.

  1. Six monthly Check-ups with the Dentist

Detecting tooth decay and cavities early is key to avoiding costly and painful dental treatment. Regular dental check-ups is important to ensure that your child’s dental development is progressing at a normal rate. Regular dental exams also ensures that your child gets the timing of an orthodontic consultation correct if necessary.
